The text is divided into different sections and gives a specific description on style. The text is focused on how the text is written instead of the what. For starters the text gives a description of what style in general is. The style in writing can be defined as the way a writer writes. It can be written in different ways and the language of a text is in different degrees of formality. The scale of formality can be divided into three different types of style: informal, neutral and formal.
Sentence length and sentence structure are also very important when talking about style. Simple and short sentences are characteristic of informal language, where long and complex sentences are most common in a more formal language.
Paratactic structure is when sentences are connected with co-ordinating conjunctions which is words like and, or, but etc. Paratactic structure is most likely seen in an informal text and many children uses this method while telling a story. Hypotactic structure is when most of the connectors are subordinator like that, as, if, when, even though, since, whether, although, unless, which, whose etc. Most texts using subordinators have a more formal language.
In an informal text most personal pronouns such as I, me, you, we us etc. are used where sentences in a formal text has a passive voice and do not use personal pronouns.
