The end of racism?

It was December 1, 1955. I stood at the bus stop in Montgomery, USA and was waiting for the bus. I was on my way home from work. I got on the bus and all the white people started looking at me. There was a lot of room in the front of the bus but I had to go down to the back of the bus because only the white people could sit in the front and the back was for the colored people. I had to stand up because there were no seats available. The first time that had happened I tried to sit down in the back of the white peoples seats. I sat there for about 5 minutes without anyone noticing. But then when a white man came in he walked directly over to me and was yelling at me and then he pulled me up from the seat and pushed me down to the back of the bus so I fell down to the floor. So now whenever there aren’t any seats I just stand up. The bus stopped and a few people went off the bus so I quickly sat down but then a colored woman came in and she sat down in the white peoples seats. Everyone looked at her. I was surprised and thought “she probably has never taken the bus” So I went over to her and said to her “you can't sit here they will get mad” She didn't reply to me so I went back to my seat. Then a few minutes later two men came on the bus and they were both laughing but when they saw the woman they instantly got silent and just looked at her. They went over to her and tried to get her to stand up and they tried everything but she just kept sitting there. Then the boys got tired and just sat down but I could tell that they were angry. Then some of us who sat in the back walked over to the front and also sat down. When there were about 5 of us that had done it I also walked to the front with a smile on my face I was so happy. Then when my bus stop came I got off and when I got off I saw the woman also got off. We were heading in the same direction so I went over to her and talked. I found out her name is Rosa Park and she actually lives close to me. I then went home and was looking forward to telling my family. This was the best day of my life.
