Outline

-------------Next slide------------------

There is only one person in this short story and the short story itself is not very long. It is also a fiction and there is only one main conflict which is his addiction to alcohol, but throughout the story he develops and becomes better at maintaining his addiction.

-------------Next slide------------------

The Shed is about a man who is addicted to alcohol. His wife left him, so it seems like he is all alone. He lives in a really messy house with a shed located at the bottom of his garden where an unknown man lives and throughout the short story the main character visits this mysterious man.

The theme of the story is addiction, but it could also be loneliness or low self-esteem

The short story is a first-person narrator which gives the effect of only seeing things from his point of view and therefore what we hear is happening is not necessarily true

He shows the mood in the story by describing what there is around the main character. When he is in a bad mood, the room will be described as dark, dusty or messy and when things are great the sun is shining, and birds are singing as in the end of the story where he is cleaning his house.
