Hello parents magazine, my name is () and I am () years old, I am writing an email for your magazine because I think you also need to see things from a teenagers perspective. I think the relationship between parents and teenagers is pretty turbulent because sometimes I personally have experienced that it is really good, and sometimes it’s really bad. I think the relationship between me and my parents is really good, I can speak with both of them and i don’t really remember last time we were like in a serious discussion or what’s worse.

I think that there is a lot of teenagers who always are changing, so one day they can be best friends with their parents and the next day they can like to isolate themselves and nearly hate their parents. I think the way to get a good relationship with your teenager is to listen to them and learn that they also get bigger and older, and maybe you can as a parent think back to the time when you were a teenager and how you felt about your parents, that is a good way to learn how to ‘handle’ a teenager.

As I wrote earlier parents need to think otherwise, but teenagers also need to. Teenagers need to think about that their parents just want to protect them and keep them safe as long as they can because that parents know, someday you need to let go on your teenager. But parents also need to let their teenager free, they need to learn how the things are going on out in the world. Maybe your teenager starts on a job and starts to earn its own money, I would say that earning your own money is a good way to tell your parents that you are responsible and that you are thinking about your own life, and maybe also start to think about what you want to work with, your education and all that. So a final conclusion is that both parents/adults and teenagers need to respect each other’s meaning and posture, but also give each other space and sometimes both parts need to compromise, but to all teenagers remember that your parents decide over you, and they wish all the best for you.
