Translate the following text into English.Note that you will be able to find many of the words in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

The Lion, the Witch and the WardrobeC.S. Lewis describes how he got the idea to write the fairytale about Narnia:‘’Ever since I was 16 years old, I have had a picture, in my imagination of a faun standing with an umbrella and some parcels in the middle of a snow-covered forest. When I became a godfather to little Lucy, I wanted to use this picture in a story which I could tell her.’’

In the final version of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe the main character, Lucy, encounters the faun as the first creature in the country of Narnia. Lucy finds the passage to the strange country by coincidence. Here, strange figures exist, the animals speak and the trees are able to wander around. Narnia could be a paradise but the evil, white witch Jadis has risen to power and has changed the country to a cold dictatorship - an eternal winter.

The faun, who is called Tumnus, sticks his neck out and invites Lucy home for a cup of tea. Tumnus is sincerely happy to meet a human being, ‘’a daughter of Eve’’, but has orders to report to Jadis, should he see humans. Jadis fears a prophecy about four people breaking her curse and bringing back life and happiness to Narnia.
