The environment protection is the most discussed topic nowadays.
In September, the Chinese government sets a target to achieve zero CO2 emissions before 2060. This is a big ambition and need every single person’s efforts.
Today I would like to introduce a project that involved half a billion people in China to take part in environment protection.
The program called Ant forest, it was raised by Alipay in 2016. And the Ant forest app was launched at the same year. The users are encouraged to record their low-carbon footprint through daily actions like taking public transport or paying utility bills online. For each action, they receive ‘green energy’ points and when they accumulate a certain number of points, an actual tree is planted. The Users can view images of their trees in real-time via satellite. Any activities that are considered low-carbon are counted and converted into virtual “green energy.” Ant Forest, encourages users to stick to a low-carbon lifestyle. This benefits the users themselves, also the environment.
In the past 4 years, half a billion Chinese have planted 122 million trees in China's driest areas.
There is a Chinese fairy tale telling that an old man and his family removed a mountain. And benefited the people living around. Now the something is happening in China. The fourth biggest forest in China is almost disappeared after 60 years’ tree-planting. And more and more miracles are happening in China.
