You have probably watched Joker in a lot of Marvel movies and in animations as a kid, but now Warner bros pictures made a whole movie just about the Joker. In the movie, you really get to know Arthur Fleck before he turns into the Joker role and we actually get why the Joker is how he appears to be as we know him today: evil, a villain, and batman’s enemy. The movie takes place in Gotham City, this is where mentally troubled comedian Arthur Fleck is disregarded and mistreated by society. He embarks on a downward spiral of revolution and bloody crimes. This path brings him face-to-face with his alter-ego: The Joker. But Arthur never had any bad intentions with all the chaos and the public to react. It all came because of society; he was always smiling at the world, but no one was smiling back. Arthur Fleck is actually a really kind person but develops throughout the movie, into this lonely evil person. He is mentally ill and has a narcissistic personality disorder and Pseudobulbareffectt. Arthur goes to a therapist because of his diseases, they show a pattern of self-centered, arrogant thinking and behavior, a lack of empathy, hallucinations, and consideration for other people, and an excessive need for admiration. Arthur wants people to admire him, and think he is funny just like Murry Franklin. This disease makes his personality a little crazy, he cries all his pain off but it’s in laughter. There are many of these scenes which are played really well by Joaquin Rafael Phoenix, and Joaquin actually won the Oscar for the best male lead role. The scenes are very realistic even though we don’t know if the disease, is real or not. You need to think a lot while watching the movie and that’s what I love about it. The instructor Todd Phillips really makes you think about what everything symbolizes. There’s a lot of hidden numbers such as 10 which represents evilness. I had to watch the movie twice to find out what all the hidden numbers and names represent, and whether Arthurs’s hallucinations are fake or real. So, you might need a third eye or watch it mutual times, to really understand the pattern. The movie can be a little far-reaching, but that gives you time to think about what just happened. The movie is great, and I think that there’s a reason why the movie won the golden lion award.
