So, in this analytical essay, I’m going to be analyzing the movie Joker.
The movie The Joker is a 2019 American drama movie/Thriller movie directed and produced by Todd Phillips. Our protagonist is Arthur Fleck who is the son of Frances Conroy, she used to work for Thomas Wayne who is supposed to be Arthur’s father, in the movie you also meet his co-workers, Sophie Dumond a girl who he likes and Murray Franklin a tv star.
The movie starts in Gotham city where you see Arthur fleck getting ready for his job, as a clown dancing on the streets, a few kids came to annoy him and stole his sign. He chased the kids down some alley where they stood up and starts to beat him up. He sees a psychologist here and there, and every time they meet, they talk about his problems. Arthur’s mother worked as a housekeeper for Thomas Wayne and his wife, but she got fired because she got sick so now Arthur must take care of her which he’s been doing for the past few years. He kept dreaming about being a part of the Murray franklin show. He meets a woman that lives in the same building as him and starts to stalk her. His boss gives him one last chance because he couldn’t bring the broken sign back but after Arthur brings a gun to the children’s hospital he gets fired. On the way in the metro three guys start to bother him, so he pulls out his gun and shoots two of them on the train and chases the last guy. Ã killer clown the following days were wanted on the news, and people started to wear clown masks to start a revolution, the revolution kept getting wilder and Arthur loved the attention, he finally felt like people “saw him”. He wanted to be a comedian badly, so he invited the girl to come to see him at the comedy show he was going to perform at but before he even started the show, he gets a seizure. He and the girl ends, up hanging out and they start to catch feelings for each other. Coming home his mother tells him that she wrote another letter to Thomas Wayne, Arthurs curiosity leads to him figuring out that Thomas Wayne is supposed to be his dad, he finds his house and tries to get inside because he needs to talk with him, the bodyguard won’t let him in. Later that day his mother goes to the hospital, at the hospital he sees himself on tv in the Murray show. He confronts Thomas Wayne at an event and gets told that Thomas isn’t his father and that his mother for a fact is mentally unstable and crazy just like him, that’s the reason she got fired. He visits the mental hospital to find some records about his mom, that will tell him the truth about Arthur and his mother, Arthur got mistreated as a child by her boyfriend. After breaking into Sophie’s apartment you find out that all he imagined with her wasn’t true, they were never together, he goes to the hospital again but this time it’s to kill his mother... Arthur is dancing around his apartment being all excited and happy because he’s going on the Murray show after being invited for the video of him getting a laughing seizure. At home he gets interrupted while getting ready for the show by two of his “friends” from work, Arthur kills one of them and lets the other one go because he was the only nice person to him at work. The police chase him through the metro and town because he’s the one who started the revolution. He goes on the Murray show dressed up as the joker, admits that he killed the three guys and that Murray was an asshole for making fun of him on live television pulls the gun out of his pocket in anger and shoots him in the head. The entire town goes crazy after seeing what happened on live television, Arthur feels proud and visible when he stands and looks at what he created.
