In the short story “people-watching”, 2014, written by Julia Gray, we follow our two characters who are on an assignment with the purpose to draw people on the street. Even though it’s called “people-watching”, it has two different meanings hidden behind. The grammatical part plays a major role in the word as it has two different meanings respectively. It may symbolize death, regarding the protagonist, Paul’s, memories of his deceased sister, and only seeing death when he sees people, but for Kajsa it is only a curious word for where she seeks a meaning in it.
"People-Watching" is not a plot-oriented short story as it is not built on a statement, ascending action, climax, descending action and resolution. The short story, on the other hand, is a psychological story as it builds on the meaning of a simple word (People-Watching) that restores memories from the past in relation to Paul's deceased sister.
