Analyse af 'A marriage of inconvenience'

Summarize the movie:The short movie is about a young homosexual man named Paul. His parents are very religious, and he is trying to convince the mother, Irene, to attend his and his fiancée’s wedding. The father of the family, John, is the pastor of the town, and Irene is its first lady. She is discussing with herself whether to go or not. A little while into the movie we see a lot of people standing before Irene holding a demonstration against homosexual marriage. John is leading the demonstration, which makes Irene realize that she has had enough and that her Paul needs her by his side. When she approaches Paul and his fiancé Silas, the people walking by are disgracing them with words like “go to hell”. This leaves Irene very shocked and she asks Paul one more time if he is certain that this is what he wants and he is. They then all walk together up to the town hall where John stands. He quickly realizes that Irene is walking with Paul and Silas and tries to stop her by saying that it will destroy the family. Paul then confronts his father and makes him quiet. Paul and Silas walks by John but Irene stays with him. She then tells him that it will be all right and continues walking after Paul and Silas. just as they are approaching the front doors to the building to men comes out holding hands, one with a little boy on the arm. that makes Irene freeze and realize that she isn´t able to support Paul getting married to another man. Paul and Silas then continue to walk into the building while she stands frozen looking after them.
