20th of April in 1999. Two students shot 12 students and a teacher at Columbine High School. 24 were injured before the students who attacked killed themselves.
Columbine Effect = frustrated replay of the Columbine massacre, where teens try to redo it elsewhere.
Inspiration = prior shootings
Motives = revenge or the big attention shooting gets.
“The curse of Columbine” = a syndrome teenagers torn with anger and loneliness desperately fear.
They try to deal with the problems through violence or showing dominance over the general people at school.
Secret service wanted to help schools after the massacre. They took a closer look at 41 school attackers, who had been involved in a total of 37 fatal school shootings over the past 26 years.
All shooters were below 21 years old. Coming from families of different economic status. They either had few or a lot of friends, and only a minor part suffered from a mental disorder.
