Parker 51 is not only about an expensive pen but also a story about 3 people Rose, Nat and Roland that had a strange relationship with love and words. The story is written by Lesley Glaister a well-known British novelist, poet and playwright.
The story is about a lady called Rose. She has a special way of thinking and a strange addiction and enthusiasm to certain words. Her relationship with words was exclusive, considering the way she likes to play, listen and taste them in her mouth. For instance, she loved her name because of the rolling sensation it created in her mouth.
Besides Rose's love for words, it also includes her love for a few men. Nat Racket, her American sweetheart. But because of her odd love for words, she let his name be a drawback for their love. It was too slight and swattable she said.
She explained she wanted a bit time to think, and by those words, Nat pulled from his pocket a Parker 51 pen. Which she could use to write to him, when he was gone.
Furthermore, in the text, Rose met with a man called Roland Bloom over dinner. They started to fall for each other, and as time passed, Roland also wanted Rose to be his wife, but this time it was different because Rose loved the way how Rose Bloom rolled on her tongue.
