Suruchi Sharma tells in an interview what it is like to be 28 years old and be single and unmarried in Indian culture, “ideally I would have been, arrived for a couple of years”. She comes from India, or more precisely the city of Mumbai, with her family. In India, arranged marriage is a normal thing, even today, “Parents find you a suitable match and you get married. In some cases, the bride and groom don't have a say”. In many cases this is how it goes, but in some cases the bride and groom are allowed but have nothing and should have said. They still must marry each other.

Male or female if you’re well educated and resourceful there’s the chance of a well-paid career. Just one problem, says Suruchi Sharma: “if you’re a woman, you must marry by your mid-20s”. Her family has supported her through all her choices, but it is of course also difficult for them as they are afraid of her choices. She also tells:” I might sound like a person who is against marriage, my life is the same as that of many young women who move away from home and pursue their dream of an independent life.” She would not marry the first and the best she will find Mr. perfect and not before she would lock herself.
