I have learned a lot about India during this period. I honestly did not know a thing about India. I knew that women and children were not treated fairly, and men had many more rights than women. When we read “Slumdog Millionaire”, I realised that it was worse than I thought. Also how bad they treated Ram when he won “Who want to be a millionaire?” just because he is from the slum area. They thought he cheated just because he has not been going to school. I was also very choked to read how the men at the orphanage house treated the kid, and made them go blind, or lose a leg so they could earn money. I cannot even imagine how it is to live in India, I know that it is a bit different in the big cities, but there is still a lot of problems, like when the men violates women’s rights. I have read about many cases in Mumbai or New Delhi were men with acid have attracted women; it is one of the easiest ways to destroy someone’s life. In India people live in a very different culture than us, in India, they have very weak laws and most people will not follow them. In big parts of India, the people will not follow the law because, then they will not be able to survive, some people has to do things they might hate to do, just to survive. I read about a man who was very pour, he lived in one of the biggest slums, and another man wanted to take his wife, and if he would not give her, the other man would kill both him and his wife. The man then decided to kill the man when he arrived to pick up the wife. He poured acid in in his mouth and the man died imminently, and then he had to run away with his wife. That text is an amazing example for how different our way of living is, in Denmark most people would have walked to the police and get the man arrested, instead of killing him. In India, they do not have the same possibilities; most police in India will only help if someone is already murdered or it is for at rich person.
