Horror, a wide known phenomenon. When we think of horror we think about goosebumps, excitement and darkness. A story that makes us sit up straight and concentrated. And boo the scare comes and gives the missing heart beat we sometimes need. But there are a lot of different kinds of horror there are also those that makes you think. One of these stories that makes you think is Strawberry spring by Stephen King. Stephen King is one of the most well-known horror writers of our time, one of his most popular books is IT. The story is told in past tense. The narrator tells his story from a broken and clouded memory, this makes the story a little harder to understand when you need to read under the lines.

The story begins with the narrator reading, a story from an article in a newspaper. The narrator begins to think back to his own schooldays where something like it happened. The story he then proceeds to tell is a deadly and horrific story. The story is about murders in the campus he was on, this has given the narrator a kind of PTSD and he doesn’t want to return home. The story is built on the unknown, the feeling of knowing that this is something that could happen in our world. This unknown and mysterious of who killed the girls is what drives though out the story. The weather is described as Dark, fogy and rainy. The description of the weather isn’t just a description of the weather, but also the narrator’s thoughts and memory. “It rained and you could smell the sea twenty miles west of the beaches” (L.15|P.7). The smell of the sea is like a rotten smell, by this Stephen King tells us that something is going on.
