Analyse af Stephen Kings novelle 'The Boogeyman'

The Boogeyman is short story in the horror genre written by Stephen King. The story is about Lester Billings who is a father of three deceased children, and the story takes place in the 1970’s. At the beginning, Lester Billings are visiting a psychologist named Dr. Harper who has a secret identity as the Boogeyman. The whole story takes place at Dr. Harpers office, where Lester Billings shows up for an appointment. Billings tells Dr. Harper that he killed his children himself. Later we find out that he just blames himself for their death. The story is a conversation between Dr. Harper and Lester Billings, where Billings tells Dr. Harper the whole story about the death of his 3 children, and how the Boogeyman is the murderer.

In the end of the story, Billings is finished with his appointment. He goes to the secretary to get a new appointment, but she is not here. Then Billings goes back into Dr. Harpers story. But Dr. Harper is not here. After that he sees the closet door is slightly open. Billings goes towards the door and opens it fully. When he does that, The Boogeyman is standing inside

The Boogeyman has a third person narrator with limited knowledge. The story’s focus is on Billings and his story about the death of his children. The Hollywood mode is the structure of the Boogeyman, and it a classic structure of short stories.
