“My Turn: The Day the World Changed, I Did, Too” is a personal letter written by Rachel Newman, published October 21 2001 to the Newsweek a month after the incident that transpired during 9/11 2001. Rachel Newman states that to ensure a civilize country we must as a society stand up for these terrorist attacks and fight for the safety of humanity and our motherland. She shares her own story during 9/11 and how dumbfounded she was watching the two planes hit the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center thinking that life would get back to normal again but sadly that was never the case. Since then, she is putting together an informational packet for students on the foreign policy toward the Middle East. She believes an ideal world, pacifism is the only answer.

“My Turn: The Day the World Changed, I Did, Too” is a personal letter written by Rachel Newman, published October 21 2001 to the Newsweek. The letter deals with a young girl named Rachel Newman who has big dreams of becoming a musician and a poet. Sadly, America changed that day for the worse during 9/11 and since then she has been cherishing her homeland by wearing clothes with the American flag attached to it and solute fighter jets as they pass over her head. Rachel Newman argues that students will not fight back despite the humongous terrorist attacks that accord during 9/11 which changed America for the better worse. “I heard my peers say things like "This is our own fault for getting involved in everybody else's business" and "This is because we support Israel, and we shouldn't be doing that because they took that land from the people it belonged to." It made me angry to hear my acquaintances try to justify atrocious terrorist acts.” (p. 1, ll. 52-55). It angers her hearing her fellow Americans shifting the blame on America for picking numerous fights with multiple countries and allaying with Israel despite fully acknowledging all the troubles they cause to other countries.
