Mosquitos a small but deadly creature that kills around 1 million people a year have concurred the world with its extreme diseases it carries such as Zika, Dengue, Yellow fever, and especially Malaria. (Huguet, 00:30-00:40) Until now we have not been able to take down this deadly animal but due to the creation of genetically modified mosquitos also known as the GMO mosquitos, we are now able to fix this problem. (Huguet, 01:09-01:20)

One kind of deadly, disease-bearing mosquito is the Aedes Aegypti. (Huguet, 00:45-00:53) The Aedes Aegypti can be found in numerous tropical and subtropical regions of the world such as Brazil, Spain, or Afrika. But out of alle the subtropical regions the place where have a solution is in the US state of Florida. (Avery, l 49-50) The 20th of august 2020, the local authorities approved a plan. The plan consisted of releasing 750 million male GMO mosquitos into to the wild. (Avery, l 3-4) These male GMO mosquitos made by Oxitec have been genetically modified carry a gene that will kill any female offspring when they are young meaning only the men will get to adulthood insuring the mosquito population to slowly thin out. (Huguet, 02:20-02:38) Why the females you may ask? You see the female mosquitos are the only mosquitos that bites. The male mosquitoes live of nectar while females need blood to make their eggs mature. That also means that only the female mosquitos are the ones carrying unwanted diseases. (Huguet, 02:57-03:10)
