The short story ‘’Kiss’’ is written by Elizabeth Baines, and it is mainly about people’s different backgrounds and upbringings. We read about different people’s lives in London, and the things you don’t know has happened behind the facade.
The truth is, that we all go through stuff, and we all deal with different difficulties, that most people do not even know about. But we all live in the same world, and in the end of the day, we may all end up in the same shitty situation. You only get one life, so you might as well keep your head high, and fight against whatever you are going through, because something or someone might be waiting for you.
The short story ‘’Kiss’’ starts in medias res because the story starts in the middle of the tale. We first read about two people, that are kissing in the tube station, while another guy is holding a detonator in his hand, allegedly ready to detonate a bomb (page 1, line 1-5). This kind of beginning makes us as readers curious about the rest of the story because we need to know what happens.
The narrator in this short story is a third person narrator, and the narrator is an objective observer from outside of the story, because the story is told from an outside perspective. This can be seen, when the narrator is talking about a couple in the tube station, and suddenly the narrator also talks about the night, that the couple met (page 1, line 6-26). This could only an objective observer know about.
