Pi didn’t drown because something woke him up in the middle of the night. He woke his brother. But his brother went back to sleep. Pi heard that there was a storm so he wanted to go. Then he sees that it’s a very big storm. He sees water coming on the ship and it takes a man with it. He now can see it’s serious. He goes back to the deck, but there is water everywhere. He can’t open the door and get his parents and brother out. He goes to call for help and the captain tells him it's too late and he needs to jump on the safe boat. But he refuses, but the captain pushes him on the safe boat and that's how he didn’t die on the boat and the only one surviving.
