I have chosen to talk about Rosa Parks, because I want to learn more about the topic, and I think she is an exciting and not least an important person when we are talking about the rights of the black people.
I think I will start to talk about who Rosa Parks was.
Who was Rosa Parks?
Rosa Parks was born in Alabama in 1913 and died in October 2005. She was an African American civil rights activist, she was called ‘’the first lady of the civil rights movement’’. Rosa spends the most of her life fighting for the designations and voting rights.
No matter what city she lived in, she found a way to stay involved in the community and always had a way to say her thoughts and feelings about inequities in society. Rosa had a knack for doing this effectively, but quietly and was known for her saying, "Do what is right". She has been one of the leaders in the black American history who have had most influence.
What did she do since she became famous?
Rosa Parks got arrested and convicted of violating the laws of segregation, when she on 1st December 1955 for not standing and letting a white bus rider take her seat. She sat in the middle, behind the 10 seats for the white peoples. And then all the seats in the bus got filled. When a white man came into the bus, the bus driver asked Rosa Parks ‘’Are you going to stand up?’’ and then Rosa said ‘’no’’. So, the bus driver said, “well, I’m going to have you arrested”. And then she replied ‘’you may do that’’. Rosa did not give her seat to the white man because she was tired and didn’t want to stand up, she was just tired of the segregation laws. And some people thought that it was because Rosa Parks was old, but she wasn’t, she was only 42.
