Rosa Parks og Martin Luther King: Kampen for lighed

Rosa Louise McCauley Parks, Born February 4, 1913 and died October 24, 2005, was an African American (black) civil rights activist, who was a seamstress by profession. She was called; “the mother of the freedom movement” and “the first lady of civil rights”.It was the 1st December and Rosa Parks were sitting in the part of the bus, where the colored people sat, when a white man came over to her and told her to give up her seat, so he could have it, because the white section was filled.But Rosa Parks had, had a tough day and she was exhausted. She refused to surrender her seat to the white man. After refusing to give up her seat Rosa Parks was arrested for civil disobedience.The 5th December she was found guilty and was fined 10$ and the cost of the court of 4$. But she appealed. This incident reminded very much of another incident that happened in March.A fifteen-year-old African American school girl refused to give up her seat to a white.But her case was not pursued since she was unmarried and pregnant.This bus-incident started the demonstration to get colored people the same rights as white people.It was called The African-American Civil Rights Movement, and It started with the Montgomery Bus boycott. The Montgomery Bus Boycott was a political and social protest campaign against racial segregation. The Montgomery Bus Boycott started the 1st December 1955, and lasted till 20th December, 1956. 1945-1989.
