The amish decent from Switzerland, a country in Europe. They are named amish after theyr leader/role model. they also belives that a baby can’t decide if he/she wants to join the church, so they get baptized at 16-22 (Rumspringa, ends when he/she have decided if the person wants to join the church.)
The Amish is a very religious group of people who belives that life shouldn’t contain anything like cars or computers. Anything electric is “the devils work”, they don’t need all those things because they were raised with not needing it, here we get cell-phones at a very early age, they don’t need cell-phones.
Short about they’re history:
The Amish takes its name from Jakob Ammann ( 1656 – 1730), a Swiss Brethren leader. Ammann believed Mennonites — peaceful Anabaptists of the Netherlands and Germany. were going away from the teachings of Menno Simons and the 1632 Mennonite Dordrecht Confession of Faith. Ammann liked stronger church discipline, including the using of shunning, the social exclusion of expelled members. Swiss Anabaptists, who were scattered by persecution throughout Alsace (one of the 26 regions of France, located on the eastern border of France) and the Palatinate, never practiced strict shunning as had the lowland Anabaptists. Ammann insisted upon this practice, even to the point of expecting spouses to refuse to eat with each other until the banned spouse repented. This strict literalism brought about a division in the Swiss Brethren in 1693 and led to the establishment of the Amish. The Amish were invited by the American president to come to the new world (US).
