It is known that a lot of couples have problems in their relationship. The love that happened to begin with starts being a hatred to one and each other. In the short story ‘’Death By Scrabble’’ written by Charlie Fish in 2005, we get to hear about an example of a couple who is indeed experiencing this event. The story is from the husband's point of view, which makes it even more interesting because we do not actually know how the wife is feeling about the situation. The husband is tired of his wife and wishes her dead while they are playing a game of scrabble, this turns out to bite him in the ass.

‘’It’s a hot day and I hate my wife’’ (2) Already the first line into the story and it is settled that the husband hates his wife. The man describes himself as a 42 year old man who should be doing way more with his life than to sit and play scrabble with his hated wife. In the story, even though we do hear about the wife a little, there is not really much information about her, other than that she is about to win the game. ‘’She’s beating me already. Maybe I should kill her’’ (13), she is good at doing what she is doing, and he does not like how this is going, so the first thought that pops up in his head is to kill his wife. It doesn't seem to be a very healthy and loving relationship between the two pairs.
