The book is about 2 boys from the town of Soweto. Their father died in a Mine accident, where it collapsed, so now it's their mothers who are responsible for them. "The white" has taken over the city, and their mother always says that they may not get into trouble. Markus, John and their mother's are going to a funeral/demonstration, the demonstration is a memory for the one there died in the other demonstration. But during the speech for the dead comes a tank up on the hill and block the road, suddenly begins it to shoot at them, and everyone goes into panic. Marcus and John are hiding from the tank, and then they try to run they meeting another tank. They are running into a beautiful garden, and hiding there. And later they run home, but their mother would not hear what happened, she is just glad that they have come home.

Marcus: After leaving the graveyard, we run up to a store, and ran through the store, and then we ran into a very large and beautiful garden and there we hide from the tank, and then we run home.

The apartheid system: My opinion about the apartheid system is that it is relay bad, and the apartheid system should not exist, because, everyone should be equal, there should not be different on people, no matt what of the color of one's skin has.
