The book Slaughter in Soweto, is about two young twin brothers, Marcus and John Ndanga, during the apardheid in South Africa. They lives in Soweto, witch is an enormous ghetto for black people. One of their very close friends, Susan, had just died. She was shot in the back of her neck, during a Peacefull demonstration, but the Police attacked without warning. That resulted in the death of Susan. The two brothers, had always been very good persons. They go to church, they were making their homework every day. They also helped the mom, Mama Ndanga. But in time, they had changed. They began to realize that they were about to grow up, and be more like adults.
The boys mom, Betty Ndanga, was a cleaner in the local Hospital in Soweto. Her husband died 10 years ago, so she was alone with the two boys.
Suddenly, the boys started to join the demonstrations; sometimes up to 30.000 people, and that made Mama Ndanga worried. One morning the boys ended up in a big fight with Mama Ndanga. She didn’t want her boys to join the demonstrations. She thougth that the people in the demonstrations were troublemakers. That made John very angry, and he told his mother that they were just trying to break out of those horrible livng conditions.
