America has been devastated. Habitations have been destroyed and abandoned, vegetation is dying, crops have failed, the infrastructure of civilization has disappeared. It is a grim, gray shadow of itself after a catastrophe. The film “The road” is a movie directed by John Hillcoat and written by Joe Penail. This movie was released in 2009 and is about what could happen if climate change takes over humanity. A man and his young son wander through the post-apocalyptic world, trying to keep the dream of civilization alive. They journey toward the sea, surviving as best they can on what they can scavenge, and try to avoid roving gangs of savage humans who will turn them into slaves, or worse.

In my opinion, this movie shows a great representation of what could potentially happen to our climate and civilization, if humanity does not do anything about the world’s problems.

Though the movie is very good and realistic, I also may think that it is a little exaggerated. Human bodies are not built to survive for that long, and I think that is one of the reasons why this movie may be a bit too much. It shows a very good perspective on the world's biggest problems, while also showing what would happen to us humans, which may trigger some viewers, and make them think about climate change. All in all, I rate this movie 4 out of 5 stars.
