The dust from the withered landscape dried out my throat. I could still smell the burnt rubber from the wrecked SUV. The only sound was my black Armani leather shoes crunching against the gravel road. When I looked back I could barely see the small dot that had been my escape vehicle. I started to think about what had put me in this situation.

First of all the drug dealers had chased me through half the city, then the police had chased me through the other half. I pulled away from their lousy cars with my Audi Q5 - 320 horsepower beast as soon as I got out in the open. The hood had taken some bullets but everything seemed to be okay, until the engine started to send out thick black smoke. I took a quick glimpse at the dashboard. The engine temperature was way up in the red zone, the radiator was out. I took of my seatbelt off and stepped out the door. Then I worked my way around to the front of the car. I popped the hood and a huge spitfire nearly burnt my hair off. There were now tall flames coming up from the engine. I was not comfortable about the situation. In movies the cars always blew up, even if a small spark just barely strafed the roof. With that on my mind the scene quickly made me uncomfortable. I rapidly took the two aluminium suitcases through the open window on the passenger seat. I couldn’t go back in case my followers cached up on me. Therefore I decided to walk the in direction I had driven. It felt good at start, me and nature – alone. Walking there with 500.000 US $ and not even something that looked like a shop i sight, felt ridiculous. After a couple of miles i got thirsty, and my fancy shoes had made my feet into two immense blisters. The heat and the monotonous landscape drove me insane. I kept thinking about what assholes the ones that made this road were, why the hell make such a long road? I began thinking about what I had achieved in life, 2 cute children, a beautiful wife, a big house and an ex- nice car. On top of all those things I had long criminal career behind me and big debt to some Cuban suppliers. I had been working for a huge international drug cartel known as “The Company” for a couple of years now. My main occupation was transporting goods from point A to point B, no names no questions. The only rule was never to open the crates. Back in the city I had been at meeting with all the top dealers from the entire city, and it had gotten totally out control. There had been a big fight and I used the confusion to slip out the backdoor with all the money. The episode had resulted in the car chase.
