1. Explain how the setting can be analysed in short story or novel
Due to the story being shorter in a short story then in a novel you analyse these two genres a bit differently. In a short story there are fewer things to look for when analysing. But in both genres, you need to look for, for example, mood, choice of words, environment and so on.
The setting can be the mood in the story but also the physical environment
The physical environment can play a role in the team or plot in the story, but it can also just be used to create a backdrop to the action, which occurs in the story.
When analysing the setting you must look for what makes the mood appear as it does and ask yourself questions like: Does the mood in the appear through the choice of words?
