Charles Darwin, James Cook og Isaac Newton

Charles Robert Darwin was born on February 12th, 1809, in Shrewsbury Shropshire in England. Charles has always been attracted to science. He was famous for his, theory of evolution by natural selection. A professor suggested him later that he should join a voyage on the HMS Beagle, that would provide much of the evidence, to the theory of evolution by natural selection.

Darwin shocked the society by saying that people and animal shared a common ancestry. But it was not until two decades after the HMS Beagle trip, that he finally gave a full public expression in On the Origin of Species (1859) a book that has deeply influenced modern Western society.

James Cook

James cook was born on 27th October 1728, in Marton-in-Cleveland, Yorkshire, England. He died February 14, 1779, in Kealakekua Bay, Hawaii when he attempted to kidnap kalani’opu’u (the ruling chief of the island of Hawaii). James Cook was an explorer. He charted voyages to places as Tahiti, Australia, and new Zeeland. The Caribbean might not have belonged to France if it wasn’t for James Cook. In the seven years’ war they used James Cooks map, to get most of the country to the Brittan. James Cook found and explored Australia during one of his missions and claimed it for the Brittan.
