Plot summary of Equilibrium

Firstly, John Preston’s wife is caught being a sense offender and is therefore burned to death. When John is questioning Mary, she asks him what the matter of life is if you do not have any feelings. In the middle of the night, he wakes up in a rush, his heart is pounding, and he is sweaty. Then he thought something was wrong with him, and he tried to take his injections. But he did not inject himself, so that is the point of no return because he takes an active decision about not taking the injections. Later that day John went down into a basement and saw a bunch of holes in the wall, it is bullet holes. He can see some light going through the wall and then he breaks the wall. Inside is a hidden room it looks like the living room of some persons who has feelings. He then plays some and breaks down in tears, this is the first time he connects with his feelings. He then starts to get feelings and is fx. rearranging his things at his desk. Also, he starts feeling pain when his colleagues must kill someone. This is seen when they have to kill all the dogs, and he tries to save one of them. John Preston’s colleague now finds suspicion in why he is acting like this, and they discover that he is going to nether to let the dog free. He now shoots the people coming for him and escapes with the dog in the trunk. He then decides to visit Mary, where he tells her that she is going to get burned to death, but when he turns around you can see that his emotions is very close to coming out. Then he visits a teacher, who teaches in the correct way of living under the laws of the Librarian world. Then he finds a secret room and throws the teacher into the wall. John is looking around because he is looking for a man called Jurgen, the underground leader. Suddenly, a man appears behind him it is Jurgen. Jurgen takes John whit him and shows him the underground because he can see that John is about to evolve feelings. The only people that are allowed in the underground is people who can show feelings. They are planning to kill Father, the leader of Liberia. He then goes to his office, where he is watching the death penalty that Mary has been given. Right before she gets burned, he decides to run to the place it is happening, to try to stop it. Unfortunately, he is a few seconds late and sees her dying right in front of him. When he gets out of the building, he gets on his knees and starts to cry. Then Brandt takes John to the courthouse and is accusing John of having feelings. But John flips the table on Brandt and wins the argument. John then wants to meet the father because he had access to the underground, when he is about to meet the father, he found out that the judge is the father, and he gets angry. He then kills all his soldiers and his right arm Brandt. It was a shock for John to see Brandt because he thought that he was killed in the fire. But John finds the courage to kill Brandt and the father. In the end, we can see the whole underground attacking Liberia, and making the world normal again.
