Forrest gump is a song by Frank Ocean and Malay and was first released by Frank Ocean in 2012. Forrest Gump” is the sixteenth and penultimate track on Frank Ocean's debut album, Channel ORANGE.

Channel Orange has themes of unrequited love, sex, and existential longing. Allusions to Franks own experience with unrequited love are featured in several songs, including "Thinkin Bout You", "Bad Religion", and "Forrest Gump".

The song is written in four verses and three chorus. The song was released when Frank more or less came out as gay. It’s about the first time he fell in love, it was in fact with another man. And things did not work out between them as Frank had idealized. So the way this song is usually interpreted is that whereas Frank may be Jenny, that other man is the titular Forrest Gump. And throughout the song Ocean is using metaphors, which are directly related to the movie, to point to the idea of him chasing this romantic interest but being unable to secure him.

The conflict of the song is that frank coming to terms with the fact that his lover and him will never be more than just friends, he's accepted that he can't be in a relationship with this man, but he won't forget him ever. In fact his letter and the last verse of Forrest gump have something in common, they both acknowledge franks lover.
