My school has decided to ban mobile phones. This decision has had a lot of mixed response. Mobiles are of great importance to everyone but especially young people. We use phones to interact with other young people, to not feel left out, and to stay on top of news. However, phones can also be problematic if they are used in school. They can lead to a lack of concentration and can cause teenagers to become antisocial. There is something very special about looking someone in the eyes during a conversation, although this is not something a lot of people now a days experience. We are most likely to get little to no response when we are talking to someone, because they are constantly on their phones. That is just one of the reasons why I think it is a wonderful idea to ban phones at school.
rightWith that being said, the mobile phones play a huge role in todays society, and therefore it is of great importance that we learn how to manage our phones and not alone how to act on social media. According to SoMe expert Ms L. Dear phones can eventually lead to more harm than good. She tells us: “phones can act as a “breeding ground” for cyber-bullying and social media can damage mental health”. This is of course a pro to banning the phone.
