Should there be a difference between peoples? Is it fair? Should people do something about it? Or just leave it like it is? Should we just accept it? No! we do not just accept it like this, there should be people doing something about it, it's not fair that people get treated differently just because of their skin color, because of their background or their family.
Barack Obama wants to make it change, and became the first black president in America, which is a very big thing, he makes this speech, “Obamas Inaugural Address”. Where he talks about restoring responsibility, both in terms of accountability in Washington and the responsibility of ordinary people to get involved.
This speech is filled with rhetorical devices. The first thing I noticed was the way Obama chose to use pronouns, as he did not make any difference between the listeners and himself. He wants to create a personal connection and to make the audience feel a part of the same community. He only uses we, our and us. This is seen in page 1, line 17 “They gave to us a republic.” or in page 2, line 20 “This generation of Americans has been tested by crises that steeled our resolve and proved our resilience.”
