I’m 13-Years-old and currently study at KPR, in Denmark. And I originate from the middle east.

On this behalf, I want to talk about Denmark’s policy regarding nuclear weapons.
In 1985 Denmark was in the safe hands of Both the. U.S.A. and. N.A.T.O.
But we did not like having our allies’ atomic weapons on Danish land.
But if we go back to the 1950s, we could have got atomic bombs, and we could have been a great Power. And the politician’s considered this, but they politely said
“No, thank you”.
Denmark does not like nuclear weapons because the country has gone through an incredible amount of trauma from nuclear testing in the 1950s and 1960s. At these times, there was significant fallout that affected everything from land management to the population at large. Nuclear weapons are still a threat to Denmark, as nations develop more powerful ones.
This leaves Denmark with two options:
get rid of its own nuclear arsenal or never be able to defend against a foreign nation's attack.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I personally like that Denmark made that choice because, I in some way feel safer because I don’t have to worry about waking up and Denmark had a nuclear accident. Even tho if it went wrong in another country, I’m probably getting radiated anyhow. Personally i’m really terrified of the thought of a nuclear war breaking out, The sirens already makes me want to cry. But it still makes me feel safer to be aware of the fact that there is no nuclear weapons in Denmark.
