Joseph Robinette ”Joe” Biden Jr. was born November 20, 1942 in Scranton, Pennsyl-vania. He is both the Democratic vice presi-dent and a candidate for re-election in the U.S.senate.
He was the first of four siblings. He has two brothers, James Brian and Francis W. Biden, and a sister Valerie Biden Owens. He is partly iris. He and his first wife Neilia Hunter had three children, Joseph R. “Beau” Biden the third, Robert Hunter and a girl Naomi Christina. Just a year after the birth of Naomi, his wife and Naomi were killed in a car accident. 5 years later he married again, this time to Jill Tracy Jacobs, who he had another child with. He is now a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Biden states that he has never taken a drink in his life, because alcoholism is so common in his extended family.
Joe Biden unsuccessfully sought the Demo-cratic presidential nomination in 1988, but dropped out early in the process. He con-sidered running for vice president in 2004, but changed his mind.
