The sweat is pouring down my face. The blazing sun is mocking me, while it looks at me like a golden coin. The feel of a cool breeze is a massive relief, the sound of the wind brooms almost silently through the cotton field. Anthony approaches me quietly and asks me if the plan is still on tonight. I reply yes to him. The endless days of swallowing pain will finally be over. Tonight, is the night we remove ourselves from pain, torture and emotional abuse. Across the field, besides a big white house sits the master. He’s always observing us, always keeping one eye open. If the master sees something, that he doesn’t like, he'll bring the whip and 5 men. Sharane hears us talk and looks shortly up on us, while her eyes scream in silence, afraid of the master to hear us. Anthony luckily gets away without getting seen and caught. As the day pass on and the night approaches, I'm struggling to keep afloat. I can already feel the noose around my neck and the whiplashes on my back. The clock is around 02:00 Am in our cabin and Anthony and I are signaling to each other with our eyes. We quietly sneak out after the last guard had to come and check on us. While we leave the cabin, we can already smell the freedom that lay upon us. The night was a windy one and as we silently walk through the cotton field and past the big white house, I feel a wind so strong, that I can feel it in my stomach. We make it past the big white house and into a little forest. We are now running, we’re running men. The wind roars around my head as we keep running. Is this it, is this really it? But then a hear a bang and I see Anthony bites the dust. My heart jumps up my throat. And I hear yet another bang, now I fall off the perch and my last candle snuffs out.
