Today we’re able to track our kids, with an app on our devices. New apps such as teen tracker, makes it possible for parents to monitor their kids activity by following their location on an app, and activates the camera, to show exactly where the person is, and what he or she Is doing. Dr. Keith Ablow says that this is a huge step further than just looking through our teenagers’ stuff and checking up on them. Basically, this is a license for teenagers to not be responsible, and for their parents to have a leash on them. He thinks that it violates their own boundaries. We’re moving further away from the time where people’s communicating. You’re ruining the trust between you and your child, and you’ll lose the deep connection with your child. It’s also a right as a human being to have some privacy, which is being taken away. If your kid is for example addicted to heroine, it can be a good device, to make sure that your child is alright. But if your kid is in such a bad situation, you might not have been such a good parent after all. No tool of technology is going to correct what you screwed up.
