The Let L-410 operated by Aeroservice LLC on behalf of Sila Avia (Siberian Light Aviation) took off from Irkutsk, Russia, for a passenger flight to Kazachinsk, Russia. Fourteen passengers and two crewmembers were onboard. The plane was on approach to Kazachinsk airport when the aircraft impacted trees at the edge of an island in the middle of the Kirenga River, at about 2.2 NM (4 km) from the runway. The first officer and three passengers were killed, 12 passengers survived with moderate to serious injuries. The aircraft was destroyed.
Weather conditions were poor at the time of the accident, with heavy fog reported. The Let 410 was on its second approach when it crashed. Prior the accident, the crew had reported problems with their navigational systems.
