The movie “Crash” by Paul Haggis (2004) is about racial discrimination/treatment in today´s Los Angeles. (“Crash” Did win an Oskar from best movie (2006).)
The character Officer John Ryan is a strong example, on a stereotype with a big touch of racism and discrimination of black people. John Ryan lives in a small apartment, with he´s ill dad, who´s all his life had fighting against racism and racial discrimination. John Ryan does fell a big press and a lot of sadness because of he´s dads’ illness. Guilt is an everyday flow too John Ryan, because he can´t get a appointment with the doctor and those frustration does “sanigua”, a black doctor-secretary woman fell, with swearword´s and racism comments, just because she is black and can´t help Officer John Ryan´s dad, when he´s dad´s al life did fight to a equal human treatment in Los Angeles . That is the first example on John Ryan´s discrimination of black people. Another example in the movie “Crash” is when Officer John Ryan is on a police squad, and pull a black man and he´s wife into the side and get´s them out of their car. He starts body searching the couple, specially the woman on a sexual harassment way, when her husband stands powerless by her side, to afraid to say anything, just because of their black skin. When Officer John Ryan see or hear about a black man or woman he´s getting a touch of strain and anger in his eyes and voice when he´s speaking. But in the end of the movie “Crash”, does Officer John Ryan meet the same woman he treated as an animal, when he did “body searching” her, crashed in a car. He tries to help her out, but the woman scream “Not you, Not you!” and when Officer John Ryan does see her afraid ring look in her eyes and she screams because she´s afraid of him, I think he´s change and learn to respect all kind of people, in just that moment in the movie.
