1 - Write a summary of one of the story lines woven through Crash. For the character that you choose, describe whether they have learned anything through the experiences shown in the film. Have they learned not to be prejudiced?
I have chosen the character Farhad. He’s Persian which we see in the scene, where the family cleans up after the robbery, and the mom gets upset because the robbers has written arabas instead of Persians.
We are first introduced to him at:
Scene 1, 1:41:56
When he buys a gun and ends up being kicked out because he gets offended by the seller saying:
"Yo Osama. Are you going to plan your jihad right now?"
“Are you making insult at me?”
They get into a fight, and he ends up being kicked out and the daughter buys the red cartridges.
I´ve written down all the times, we see a scene with Fahrad in order to get a bigger overview of his characters development.
Scene 2, 1:25:59
Fahrad's in the store, and his wife can't lock the door. The daughter puts bullets into Fahrad's gun, and afterwards put them in the drawer behind the counter.
Scene 3, 1:13:43
Fahrad has the lock replaced but is told by the locksmith, that it’s not the lock but the door, that has a problem, and therefore it is the door, that needs to be replaced. Fahrad gets offended, and he accuses the locksmith of trying to cheat him into cash, even though this appeal is only based on the locksmiths hard looks. Eventually, the locksmith gives up explaining the problem and ends up throwing out the receipt.
