The text “The Cherry Tree” by Lisa Blower is about a woman named Thea. Thea has a neighbor named Roxanne and her son Toby. Roxanne is pregnant with her second child. Roxanne and Toby have a cherry tree in their garden, but the main boughs of the tree are in Thea’s Garden. Toby likes cherries, but they cannot pick them up in their garden. That is why Roxanne and Toby one day showed up at Thea’s door to ask if they could pick some cherries from their tree in her garden. They would not let them in to pick up the cherries. She does not want them to go through her house because she thinks they would judge her for how it looks and how she lives. When a friend of Thea comes up with a key to her house, she finally opens the door to herself. When she opened the door there were a group of people taking pictures of her and she felt that they thought she was a crazy woman.

Infertility is a big challenge for many people. Many people connect life with having children. When people are struggling with having children is infertility often the problem. Infertility can be felt very unfair because it is not your fault that you cannot have a child. That is exactly how Thea feels in “The Cherry Tree”.
