I have chosen this topic because Martin Luther King was such an inspiring person who changed and achieved a lot of things regarding The Freedom Movement in America. He’s definitely worth knowing due to the legacy and impact he left (and was overall just a very fascinating person, I think)

Who was Martin Luther King?

Martin Luther King was a Baptist minister and civil rights activist, who was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1929. From the time he was a little baby, his best friend was a white boy. They would play every day and treated each other equally. When they started school, though, they drifted apart. They couldn’t study in the same building since they weren’t the same race. Then when he was six years old, the boy informed King that his father wouldn’t let them play together anymore. He had never thought of himself as different until that moment and since he couldn’t stop thinking about the incident for a while, he was determined to hate every white person from then on. When King was 12 his beloved grandmother died, which was an extremely traumatic loss for him. Devasted by the news, it’s said that he tried to attempt suicide by jumping out of the family’s second-story window. Throughout his whole childhood he attended segregated public schools and graduated high school at the age of only 15 for the reason that he was much smarter than all the other kids.
