Lucky Teen Hits the Jackpot
Sixteen-year old boy from Brighton
becomes the UK’s youngest lottery winner
after a surprise birthday win.
Ben Foster’s parents played the lottery for
thirty years and never won more than ten
pounds. "I thought the lottery was just a waste
of money," said Ben from Brighton. But that
opinion soon changed …
On his sixteenth birthday, one of his presents
from his parents was a lottery ticket. They
chose the ticket because three of the numbers
were his lucky numbers: 8, 24, 12. "Eight is my
special lucky number because when I was
eight, I was in a really bad car accident, but I
survived. It was Christmas Eve – the 24th of
the 12th."
When Ben’s family checked their lottery
numbers, they had a big surprise: Ben’s lucky
numbers helped him win nearly one million,
three hundred thousand pounds in prize
money. "We couldn’t believe it," said Ben's
mum. "It was a pretty good birthday present,"
said Ben.
Ben’s parents didn’t have much money when
he grew up. They taught Ben that it was
important to save some of his pocket money.
Ben is a very lucky - and happy - teenager.
