In Denmark society pays for school unless it’s private of course, in the United States parents have to pay no matter if it’s public or private. Their school system is little bit different from ours; they start at age 5 in kindergarten, in Denmark you can choose to skip that. Then at age 6 you move up to elementary school and stay there for 5 years, in Denmark you stay 9 years in elementary school. Then at age 11 you move up to high school, first year you are a freshmen, then second year you become sophomore, then a junior and finally a senior, you start in Danish high school at age 16-17 whether you take a year off or not, then you stay there 3 years. And after high school you can choose an ongoing education.
Driver’s license and Alcohol:
In some states you can attend driving schools when you’re just 14 years old, but you would have to be 16 to drive. Many politicians in the United States have been concerned and have been campaigning to raise the driving age; all of their attempts have failed, because the parents argue that they don’t have time to take their teenagers to social events. In Denmark young people have to be 18 years old, to get a driver’s license and to attend you have to be 17 years and 9 month old, but sometimes it depends on the driving school.
