The concept of animal rights has come to play an important role in several areas of concern over human treatment of other animals. These areas range from the hunting and trapping of animals, to obvious cases of mistreatment of work or sport animals or pets, to less apparent cases such as the widely accepted practices of animal experimentation for scientific purposes and factory farming. Concern further extends to broad ecological issues of human responsibility for the Earth's environment and the threat of extinction to many endangered species.
The human race has always looked upon itself as God’s chosen people. We have put ourselves on a pedestal, from where we have claimed ownership of the world. During this process innocents have been harmed. By distributing power to themselves the so-called superior race, haven’t just nominated the leaders of our planet, but also the losers. I find myself forming a total agreement with Jane Goodall. Man was put on Earth to rule, but with wisdom and care, not with greediness and egoism like now. We have used our position on this once beautiful planet to destroy nature and kill animals for personal profit. The way they treated animals in factory farms and in the medical research is unacceptable and a violation of all ethic norms and values. Regrettably this opinion isn’t shared by everyone; in this essay I’ll explain why it should.
