A Voice for the Voiceless: om dyrevelfærd og dyreforsøg

Jane Goodall has spent more than 35 years of her life, studying the habits of chimpanzees in the wild. In 1986 after she had seen the chimps being used for medical research for the first time. She described it with words like, “Locked in tiny cages like microwave ovens” and “driven mad by the lack of space” she says. I have to say, it does not surprise me at all. They are used for experiments, what did you expect, that they were living like kings, in a castle with swimming pools? I am not saying that I like to see chimps or any other animal live in bad conditions. Not at all! I’m totally against it, and I agree with Jane goodall, when she says that as long as it’s necessary for animals to be used in labs, they should be given the most human treatment possible.

My experience:

My opinion about all this, is that, I think that it is fair that humans use animals to survive, maybe less, but not more! By saying survive, I mean necessary things, such as eating them. Today we see animals being used for more than that unfortunately. I have not seen animals in research labs, but I think i know the conditions they are living in. I specially know about bears in Turkey and Greece they are forced to dance in the streets for people, or else they will be hurt or killed. Many of the bears are insane. Driven insane by the conditions that it is living in. Every day millions of animals are being caught so they can be sold as pets. It is proven that’s these animals are doomed, wild life animals can never have a normal life as a pet; they get mad, depressed and self-destructive. A lot of exotic birds like parrots are caught in South America and Africa; under the capture they suffer great pain and desperation. From those countries, they are smuggled illegally out of the countries and exported to the eastern world. Under the transport almost sixty percent of them die. I think it's too bad that we catch exotic animals just because we want a very rare pet. Ibelieve that we should only capture exotic animals if we need them to survive.
