The reasons the so called “vampire” workers could have for working at night, could be that they are eager to change their own lifestyle, so they could work during night, and then have the day of for family and their social life.

Some also see the night as anti social hours, so by doing their work at night, they could improve the quality of their own private life during the day time.

The Advantages I see for the vampire workers could be that they would have more freedom, and they could plan their own free time. Another good reason could be that is has been a lot easer to work from home, because of the technology. So the long traveling time between work and home simply wouldn’t exist, so the traveling time could instead be spend on work instead.

There has also been several opinion polls about flexible working hours, and it spooked for itself. Many would like to have the opportunity the decide their own day.

The researches also claimed that by giving people more freedom, they would also be more efficient workers.

Increasable more parents also like the idea of flexible working hours, so they can spend more time with their kids. It’s called “shift parenting”, and the extreme version of this is “vampire” work. These are just several good thing about the flexible working hours, but personally I’m a bit more skeptic. I just can’t imagine people would get so much extra out of the flexible working hours. Then they would just sleep their day away. And in the long run, wouldn’t it get boring having each and every day of, when everybody else were at work? As I see it the idea is actually good, but only for some people. I find it hard to believe that some people can adjust their time and lifestyle in the right way, so they would get much more out of working at night. There’s also a so called “work-life balance” that some people simply just ignore, and I fear that the work-life balance could be damage by the flexible working hours.
