Gun violence at schools

In a single year, 5285 children and teens were killed by gunfire in the United States, according to the latest American data released in 2002. That is two children every three hours, 14 children every day, and more than 90 children every week. American children are more at risk from firearms than the children of any other industrialized nation. In one year, firearms killed no children in Japan, 19 in Great Britain, 57 in Germany, 109 in France, 153 in Canada, and 5285 in the United States. Gunfire is a big problem in the United States, especially among youngsters. 5285 children or teens killed in one year are a lot of people, and the problem is increasingly.

School shooting incidents in the recent school year, involving many victims in Mississippi, Kentucky, Arkansas, Pennsylvania, Oregon and Virginia, have raised concern about whether the USA’s society can protect children from deadly harm even when in school. Normally, it should be safe to go to school, but is it changing? It all started mainly back 1980’s, where cocaine and firearms became an unfortunate fact of life in the American cities. Because of lax gun laws, there has been widespread illegal trafficking of firearms to young persons and gangs.
