We all know what the word violence means and most of us don’t see it as a good thing. We meet violence all over the world and we are all acquainted with it. We hear about it all the time in the news and we read about it on the Internet, but we don’t really notice because we’re getting used to it. It’s just a part of our normal life and maybe that’s why many of us don’t care anymore and seems indifference. But do we really not care when we hear about violence anymore? Are we getting so used to it, that we sometimes use it as entertainment? Many award-winning movies are based on violence and we love the action and drama in the movies. So how would the world look without violence?
Will there ever be an end of violence? Will humans be able to solve all their problems in a non-violent way just by talking and discussing? I can’t imagine a world without violence, no gangs and no wars. What would the military and the police’s job be then? It’s really difficult to stop a war because wars are often based on hate or dissatisfaction. I learned about all that that last month when I visited Palestine with the other Global Teenagers. I learned a lot about the conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians and how difficult it is to make peace. The conflict has lasted for over 60 years and there have been many peace negotiations in progress over time. The big problem is of course that they can’t agree, but also that they don’t trust each other. I think trust is a big part of it all. If we don’t trust each, how should we then be able to feel safe?
